I. Air Duct and Furnace Cleaning

Q. Why should I get my air ducts professionally cleaned?

A. Only professionals equipped with truck mounted machines can thoroughly clean up your air ducts.
Air ducts are just like the respiratory system of a human body. Through those hidden air ducts, air circulates in your house - the air conditioning system pumps up the hot air heated up in the furnace in winter time and the cold air generated by the cooling device in summer time, and sends it to the vents around the house. When the air conditioning system is running, contaminants like dust, pollen, pet hair and animal dander would be brought into the system through the return air vents. They would deposit in the air ducts. Vents on the floor level are inevitably laden with dirt and mud, brought in from the house doors or just from your indoor plants. These contaminants will eventually enter the air ducts in which they produce mildews and germs that would jeopardize our health. Since ordinary cleaning is not able to reach the very deep inside of the air ducts, only professionals with special machines can help you thoroughly clean up the air conditioning system.

Q. How often should I have my air ducts cleaned?

A. Every 2 years.
More if you or your family members have respiratory problems, such as asthma or allergy to pollens, etc. Or you are living in a kind of dusty neighbourhood.

Q. Should I have my air ducts cleaned before I move in to my new house?

A. Yes.
As your house is newly built, it's not unusual that quite a lot of the construction debris like sawdust, asbestos, and concrete lumps would remain in the air ducts. Leaving them uncleaned would obstruct the airflow in the ducts and then cause more dusts. So having your air ducts cleaned would also result in lowering your utility bill.
As a matter of a fact, most new houses are located in a community that is under construction, which means its environment is much dustier. So it's a good suggestion to have your new house cleaned before you move in.

Q. How do you clean my air ducts?

A. We use our truck mounted vacuum machine and high pressure air blow gun to clean up the whole air conditioning system.
We will first open some holes on the air ducts to hook up a 10 inch diameter hose to the air conditioning system and connect this hose to our powerful truck mounted vacuum machine (air volume 50000 cubic feet per minute). When the vacuum machine is turned on, it generates huge negative pressure. Contaminants in your air conditioning system would be extracted through the hose to the vacuum machine outside. At the meantime, we use a high pressure air gun (air pressure 200 pounds per square inch) to clean up the air vents and floor registers one by one and help draw the contaminants to the vacuum machine. For the usually unreachable places inside of the air duct, we will use a special equipment to do the job. This so-called "octopus" (some people call that spider) equipment is an air-blowing plastic whips mounted on the end of a very flexible long rod that can be inserted deeply into the air ducts. For the next step, we will open your furnace to clean up its inside including the air filters, fans, fire ignition part and its combustion chamber. We also spray sanitizer (optional) into the air ducts that can eliminate the germs grown in there. After we finish the job, we seal up the opened holes.

Q. Do you charge "connection fee", "hole opening fee", "individual vent cleaning fee"?

A. No.
Some companies do, but we don't. We charge the air duct cleaning fee based on: a. how many furnaces you have; and b. the size of your house.

II. Dryer's Duct and Vent Cleaning

Q. Why should I get my dryer vent cleaned?

A. For the good of your monthly utility bill and for the safety of your house.
Even though you can clean out the lint filter in your dryer each time after use, the lint can still gradually build up in the dryer's vent duct. The duct will then get clogged. Your dryer needs to run longer time to dry your clothes and your utility bill will go up. More dangerously, the lint is highly inflammable material under high temperature. Dryer might catch fire damaging your property.

Q. How often should I have my dryer vent cleaned?

A. That depends on how frequent you use your dryer.
The rule of thumb is if you feel that the dryer would take a longer time to dry the clothes, it's time to clean it. In some cases, the dryer duct's warm air would attract the birds to build a nest in or around its emission hole on the wall outside. You may or may not notice that because the birds might abandon their nest for some reasons. But the straws and mud they used to build the nest would remain there and that would block the airflow. So you should protect the hole from birds with a mesh and we suggest you have us do the air duct and dryer duct cleaning at the same time.

IV. Carpet and Upholstery Cleaning

Q. How often should I have my carpet or upholstery cleaned?

A. Twice a year, normally. Three or four times a year, if you got rug rats or pets in your home. Once a year, at least.
Actually, you could make you decisions based on the following factors:
Number of kids and their age, number and types of pets, amount of traffic, frequency of vacuuming, type and color of your carpet, whether dirty shoes are allowed in your house, etc.

Q. How do you clean my carpet or upholstery?

A. We use the "Hot Water Extraction Cleaning" (also called "Steam Cleaning") method to clean the carpet and upholstery.
To clean the carpet, first, we will spray the cleaning solution to pre-treat the carpet. The chemical will loosen up the soils on the carpet's surface. After that, we will run a machine on your carpet. The machine injects high temperature cleaning water onto the carpet and the attached vacuum pump can extract the used water and solution out of the carpet and the carpet will be cleaned up.
We use the similar method to clean the upholstery. The only difference is on the size of the machines we use.

Q. Do you clean wool carpets, tapestries, small pieces of rugs?

A. Yes.
For wool carpets, we clean them with relatively lower pressure of our machine and lower temperature of the cleaning water. For tapestries, please take them down and put them on the floor before we arrive in.

Q. Do you move furniture?

A. We move light furniture like chairs, sofas, or tables if necessary.
By the way, if you got breakables on the furniture, please remove it before we start our cleaning job. Thank you for your cooperation.

Top

Q. How long will it take for my carpet or upholstery to dry?

A. 6 to 8 hours.
